The first time I took part in a "Global Game Jam". In 2020 I participated at the University for "Creative Design and Entertainment Technology" (Bangkok).
The theme was "Repair" and that was how we came up with the game idea: "Big Brother Fix It".
As a player, you take on the role of the big brother who repairs toys for his sister within a certain amount of time. At the end of the process, you will get a grade: A (best) to F (worst), based on how accurately the toy is restored to its original shape.- When starting the game, the "Game Jam" 2020 version can be selected. It still contains all the bugs and has only the content we completed within the "Game Jam" time frame.
- In the post "Game Jam" version, we corrected most errors (e.g. sticking toys) and added toys that were not finished during the Game Jam.
The game works well and is intended as a small pastime. It is quite fun to use unconventional objects to make crazy toys. "Big Brother Fix It" has no long-term replayability, but everyone I showed it to enjoys it. The unorthodox way of gluing toys together encourages many to share their creations on social media.
