Diamond Jam

Diamond Jam was created in the vein of Panda Jam . The goal of the game is to get Hippo off of the gem tower. When he touches the ground the level is completed.

Depending on the level, the player has a limited number of mouse clicks. If these ared used up before Hippo reaches the ground, the level is lost. To destroy gems, three of the same colour need to be next to each other. They can also contain a bonus (water melon) or ice. You need to destroy ice blocks twice to completely remove them from the playing field. There are also bombs, turning stones and fireworks. You can activate these directly.

  • Bombs destroy all stones within a two block radius.
  • Turning stones turn all surrounding stones clockwise and remove themselves.
  • Fireworks create a cross over the entire playing field.

Bombs and fireworks can start chain reactions. For instance, fireworks can activate a bomb. The sheep tries to keep Hippo from reaching the ground. It will keep adding new stones from the ground up. When you push the sheep, a new line of stones appears immediately.

Level 1 and 2 are predetermined. Level 3 is randomly generated.

The game was created with a focus on gameplay so there was very little attention to aesthetics. Be that as it may, there was still time to add some textures. Dropping and pushing stones was also implemented since it strongly enhances an understanding of the mechanics.
